Sometimes a judge will require that instead of having a long and drawn out court battle, that court appointed mediators in child custody cases is more appropriate. Sometimes this works but usually, it ends in a public airing of past mistakes or criminal charges. If you aren’t interested in child custody mediation, just be patient. If after several meetings you are unable to make any headway, the judge will likely end the mediation and schedule a hearing to move forward.
